WebNotes has launched its private beta web annotation service and I have a few invitations if you’re interested (just add a comment). I had huge reservations about the service before checking it out and speaking with co-founder and CEO Ryan Damico. My thoughts before checking out the service were: Why another web annotation service? How [...]

Akoha is a game that encourages players to “play it forward”, as good deeds will earn them points in a multiplayer game. The company presented at TechCrunch50, and their presentation appears below. During the akoha presentation, the company opened their pre-registration to a very limited number of beta testers. I was lucky enough to sign [...]

After some initial rough spots during the first day of TechCrunch50, yesterday was an incredibly impressive day. I’ve been reluctant to compare TC50 and DEMOfall (aside from the live video stream, of course), but there is one glaring difference between the two conferences: the panels. While DEMO has a few expert sessions, TC50 had experts [...]

Well, I had a choice to make. Either watch DEMOfall 2008 or TechCrunch50. DEMO 2008 did such a great job of streaming, but it looks like they’ll just be posting video of presentations within 24 hours rather than streaming. TechCrunch50, on the other hand, will be streaming live. Makes it a pretty easy choice. So, [...]

All right folks, here we go. This week is a big one with both DEMO and TechCrunch50 taking place. While I won’t be at either event this year, I’ll be sure to cover all the startups launching (and established companies launching new products) at both events. I’m hoping that both conferences will be streaming their [...]

Just saw this one and had to give it a test drive. Though somewhat cryptic right now, it looks like Signal Patterns is trying to help people find content based on dating site-like personality profiles. From their site: We enable self-discovery through research surveys on topics as varied as tastes in music and the psychology [...]

While reading through my RSS feeds this morning, one title caught my eye: “SocialU: One of the Most Obnoxious Apps We’ve Seen in a While (Invites)” by Marshall Kirkpatrick on ReadWriteWeb. I just loved the fact that he trashes a service, yet has invites to it. Just thought that was excellent. From his review: SocialU [...]

Haven’t used the word “dope” in a while. Feels pretty good. Anyway, I’ve been flirting with the idea of doing some kind of podcast for far too long. On June 25th, BlogTalkRadio announced $4.6 Million in Series A funding from the Kraft Group, so I had to check it out. [full disclosure: I work at [...]
