SignalPatterns Launches Publicly

Back in October, I wrote about Signal Patterns launching a facebook app to match personality traits to voting behavior. Today, they’ve announced the official launch of their two first web apps: Personality Patterns and Music Patterns. From their press release:

The applications are now available on SignalPatterns.com, a first-of-its-kind website where people use professional psychology tools, [...]

Magnify.net Adds New Sources And My Nap Schedule Suffers

You know, I hate magnify.net. I really do. Because I keep putting off using their service, and they keep reminding me that they’re excellent. I just push magnify.net to the back of my mind and then they let me know that they’ve added new features, which makes me feel bad. Well, now that they’ve added [...]

What Is Media Discovery?

I’ve been a real slacker lately over at the matchmine blog, so today I posted an entry entitled “What Is Media Discovery?” Here’s a short snippet of it. Check out the rest on the matchmine blog.

After watching the presentations at TechCrunch50 and DEMOfall 2008, I was surprised at how often I heard the term “discovery” [...]

TechCrunch50 Day Two Wrapup

After some initial rough spots during the first day of TechCrunch50, yesterday was an incredibly impressive day. I’ve been reluctant to compare TC50 and DEMOfall (aside from the live video stream, of course), but there is one glaring difference between the two conferences: the panels.
While DEMO has a few expert sessions, TC50 had experts ask [...]

The Sixty One- Find New Music, Score Points

In my constant quest to find sites that help me find new stuff, I am always finding sites that promise “music discovery,” but most music discovery services are disappointing. The Sixty One is not disappointing at all, and has become my new favorite music site. It could be the “I was into that band before [...]

SignalPatterns.com- Discovering the real you

Just saw this one and had to give it a test drive. Though somewhat cryptic right now, it looks like Signal Patterns is trying to help people find content based on dating site-like personality profiles. From their site:
We enable self-discovery through research surveys on topics as varied as tastes in music and the psychology of [...]

Take This Pink Ribbon Off My Eyes

Props to Nate for alerting me to the existence of Kirtsy, a Digg-esque social site with a female perspective. I was interested to check it out and see what’s popular in the world of female web users.
This is what I don’t understand: Any woman will tell you there is a lot more to us [...]

Zemanta For Windows Live Writer- I Believe The Term Is "Woot."

Oh Zemanta, what don’t you do?

I mean, I’ve spent a lot of time telling people just how much I love the Zemanta plugin for WordPress. I’ve blogged about it. I’ve done presentations mentioning the plugin as one of my Super Secret Ill Ninja blogging tricks. And now…….
They’ve added a Zemanta Windows Live Writer Plugin. [...]

Magnify.net Adds New Video Sources, Ups The Speed

Ah, magnify.net. The service that is a constant reminder of the things I’d like to do, if only I had the time. Back in June, I asked readers what they’d do if only they had more time (and I was referring to doing things online….more time with family wasn’t the kind of thing I [...]

Kiobo- Social Recommendations

If you’re a frequent reader here at good ole blogstring.com, you’ll know that I’m very, very interested in recommendation technology. So I was excited to check out kiobo, a browser plugin, that launched their public beta yesterday. Their idea is to offer recommendations based on a user’s browsing history and the browsing history of their [...]
